How Levitate SEO does link building

Local Citations

Similar to authority link building, local citations help show Google that your website represents a legitimate business that people can trust. Getting local citations can kill two birds with one stone as it also helps with local relevancy.

How we approach the work

Four stops, in this order. You will always know which one your project is in and what comes after it.

  • Audit

Your backlink profile first, to see what is actually pointing at you, because most people have never looked. Then Search Console for what Google has indexed, and your listings and directories. Local Falcon on top of that if you are chasing a map pack as well.

  • Strategy

The audit tells us which job this is. A clean site is weeks of work. One that has been neglected or built badly is months. You get the order we would go in, and why, before anything is touched.

  • Build

Pages written, structure fixed, profile tuned, listings corrected. The order comes from the audit, so nothing gets changed on a hunch.

  • Report

One page a month. Where you rank and where you sit in the map pack, exactly what was done that month, and what comes next.

Before you get in touch

How much does link building cost in Portland?

Three things move the number: the state of the site you already have, how many service areas you want to be found in, and how hard your industry is to compete in around Portland. I cannot know any of them until I have looked. You get a real number on the first call, before you have spent anything.

Do you buy links?

No. Bought links are the reason the cleanup service above exists, and I am not going to sell you a problem I would later charge you to fix.

There are three routes I actually use, and I work them in this order. Directories first, because they are the most certain and the fastest to put right. Then niche launch platforms, which are the industry version of Product Hunt, wherever one exists for what you do. Then expert quotes, getting you cited by name in somebody else’s article, which is the slowest of the three and the one worth the most.

Nothing on that list is a package of links per month for a flat fee. If somebody quotes you one, that is the thing that gets cleaned up later.

Can bad backlinks actually hurt me?

Yes. I have watched it happen to a remodeling company, which is the reason I check this before I go looking for new links rather than after.

The frustrating part is that you usually did not put them there. Sites get scraped, directories copy each other, and a domain that used to be something else keeps pointing at you. Most people have never looked at what is actually linking to them, so the first job is finding out.

Is SEO better than running ads?

Yes, and I will argue it. Ads stop the day you stop paying for them. Search does not. I am a Yelp advertising partner, which means I see the paid dashboard as well as the organic side, so this is a comparison I have actually watched rather than one I have read about. In the AI era it matters more, not less: generative engine work moves quickly now, and plenty of very large companies have built their entire marketing strategy on being found rather than on buying attention.
